Next Gen Foods predicts US market entry in 2022 with TiNDLE plant-based chicken

While the vegetable meat category has no shortage of startups promising to fix the broken food system, this is not the first rodeo for Andre Menezes and Timo Recker, who founded New generation foods in April 2020 and have already launched products in several countries.

German Recker, whose family business had been making cutlets for three generations, had already founded a successful meat substitute company called LikeMeat in Germany (which he sold early last year), while Menezes – an engineer from Brazil – was running Country Foods, one of Singapore’s largest food importers, distributors and processors, when the two met in Singapore and hit it off.

Lipi … tastes like chicken

While not as crowded as the plant-based beef market, the US plant-based chicken market is heating up quickly, with brands inherited from Lightlife to Tofurky and Quorn now scrambling for space with food technology brands such as Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods; CPG giants such as Nestlé, Conagra, Kellogg and Kraft Heinz; and a flurry of startups such as Today, Rebellyous, Daring Foods and SIMULATE.

However, there is still room for new players with a differentiated product and a scalable supply chain, insists Menezes, who gives US chefs a snapshot of the company. TINDLEvegetable chicken this week at The Food Network & Cooking Channel New York City Wine & Food Festival.
